In the realm of legend, the story of Jeb BoneYard Buckner unfolds as the Deadman Walking.
From a child who faced adversity and hardship from the start, Jeb Buckner rose to become the town's vigilant protector, a legendary figure, a terrifying man who stood against the forces of darkness and defended the innocent at all cost. He was fearfully respected and many were afraid to even speak his name as if he were a curse but a curse to the evil and a blessing to the innocent.
However before becoming a vigilant he was just a young boy left to fend for himself in the forbidden forest near Prairie Junction. Discovered as a 12-year-old near the boneyard, where not even the natives would go, his true origins remained a mystery.
Viewed as a homeless boy with hidden depths, Jeb kept to himself due to his lack of trust in others, a result of his father's passing and his mother abandoning him after becoming a prostitute in a nearby town. From the very beginning, the concept of relationships was unfamiliar to the child who thrived in solitude within the depths of the forest.
However, Jeb was feared yet a respected figure in Prairie Junction when he finally came out from the shadows from beyond the boneyard, but in Prarie Junction he was also known for being a deaf kid because he never spoke a word nor properly communicated with anyone. Jebs acts of kindness such as sweeping and mopping the town's bar and helping with deliveries for the community. His past may have been shrouded in mystery, but his compassionate nature and dedication to helping others, despite his own struggles, were also well-known throughout the town.
While never engaging closely with others, the child matured into a young man who quietly supported the townspeople from the shadows of the night, carefully watching their needs and providing help when the opportunity arose.
Although the town's limited knowledge of him and his quiet nature, Jeb's departure for the boneyard did not go unnoticed. Some of the townspeople, along with the town's Catholic nun, Sister Sheron Marie made efforts to feed him and earn his trust.
And like any small town, rumors and stories about this mysterious child spread, he became known as the one who was both blessed and cursed. And the growing relationship with the nun stood out to all as she gave her best efforts to give him loving solace. Over time, she began to understand his nonverbal language, and their bond deepened.
